Last year, the QHS performance of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” was abruptly put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fast forward a year later and students are finally able to put on a virtual performance, but with a twist.
This year's musical production is “A salute to QHS Musicals”. It features songs from many musicals that QHS students and alumni have done in the past. Including Les Miserables, Grease, Once on This Island, Bye Bye Birdie and more. The show will include a variety of solo and group performances while maintaining social distancing guidelines and following COVID-19 protocols. Senior member, Meghan Dexter states, “We always wore masks, we followed 6 foot guidelines on stage and we were 12 feet apart while rehearsing vocals.” These protocols ensure a safe and entertaining musical experience.
In addition, there will be no in person audience this year. The show is accessible virtually, via “Q-tube” and will be streamed Friday, May 7th and Saturday May 8th at 7pm and Sunday, May 9th at 2pm. The show is free, however donations are greatly appreciated as they will help fund future shows for the Queensbury High School theatre department. Donations can be made at showtix4u.com (Search “Queensbury”).
The QHS Musical is excited to share their hard work with you and are happy to be on stage once again; some for the very last time in their highschool careers, Senior, Meghan Dexter says, “It was really great to come together as a family. We all love the arts, so it brought smiles back to our faces when we were finally allowed to enjoy what we care so much about again.”
