It’s that time of year. Midterms are just around the corner and you don’t know how you can possibly manage to study for your tests, do your homework, play sports, and stay involved in all your extracurricular activities. It seems like a lot, and truth be told, it is. But there’s a way to deal with it all. Stress is actually your body’s way of coping with difficult things. In fact, it’s good to be stressed, to an extent. When you let the stress take over your life is when it becomes a problem. That’s why I’m here, to help you not let stress become a problem in your life.
There are so many ways to deal with stress for any occasion. Some of the most popular ways are meditation, reading, writing, and exercise. Exercise doesn’t have to be intense, just enough to raise your heart rate a little. Besides helping with stress, it offers plenty of other health benefits. Getting enough sleep and practicing other healthy life habits are also extremely important in regulating stress.
If the stress is specifically targeted toward exams or school, preparation is key. If you study and are prepared for a test, you are less likely to stress yourself out over it. Take good notes in class and don’t put work off until the last minute. It might seem like a good idea at the time, but it will pile up fast and make you feel like you can never catch up. Lastly, don’t overthink it. When you sit down to take that test, breathe deeply and think about all the time and hard work you put into studying and preparing for the test. It’ll be fine. You’ve got this.
